A little taste of Vietnam: Binh Duong’s banh beo

I just came back from Binh Duong today.I am so happy cuz I was remember to take my camera with me.On the way to grandma’s house,Bao said he is hungry.So we decided to stop n have a “snack”.I took some pics to show you one of the most famous dish in Binh Duong – banh beo bi 😀

The restaurant opened since many years ago,with the name of the owner-My Lien.At first,it was a small stall with some Vietnamese old ladies who cook as good as your grandma.Just a stall,but they always keep their kitchen as clean as it can be-I dunno this but my mom told me so.But the most important is their wonderful dishes.

They make banh beo,a kind of steamed rice cake,thin and circle,serve with mashed mung bean on each cake and bì ( thin stripes of cooked pork and pork skin,mix with cooked rice powder),with some cucumber n “Vietnamese salad”,dip in “nuoc cham”.Their banh beo bi is heavenly,the most delicious,the flavour that u can never find anywhere else.Now they have two restaurant,use the same recipe,but only the restaurant with the old ladies bring us the best banh beo bi.Everyone said so,and even them can’t understand why!

The second dish that I can’t say no when I eat there is spring roll.It may look normal,but once you eat it,u can never forget.I don’t know what did they mix in the spring roll,but it’s flavour is very special.And the kind of spring roll pastry that they used is very hard to find,that make their spring roll become more special.After deep fried,the pastry become very crisp.Just eat with some salad and nuoc cham and bang!You can never stop till you yell “ I’m too full!”.I ate it the first time when I was a little girl,and until now,in my mind there are no spring roll could be as good as theirs,and no spring roll could make me eat that much except for their masterpiece.If you wanna know Vietnamese spring roll,then try this! You’ll not be disapoint!

A small restaurant,old ladies,perfect dishes (nice ginger iced tea too!) made one of the most popular restaurant in Binh Duong.Just don’t forget to stop and enjoy the meal when you go to Binh Duong.Cuz like I said,you will never forget! 😉

    • Hehe,em viết mí bài này cho hôn phu của dì em đọc,để tìm hiểu Việt Nam trước khi về í mà =]] Ở đây làm nem chua ngon tuyệt í chị! Nem chua với kẹo hạt điều Việt Kiều về đặt nhiều kinh khủng lun =]]

    • Tiệm bánh bèo bì Mỹ Liên nằm ở Xã An Thạnh,nằm giữa Lái Thiêu & Thủ Dầu Một,mình nghe nói chỗ đó còn gọi là “Búng”.Còn địa chị mình cũng không nhớ rõ lắm,chỉ nhớ hình như nó nằm trên đường Thích Quảng Đức.Từ Sài Gòn đi lên thì tiệm nằm bên tay phải. 🙂
